The Pirates Den is a small resort situated on Anna Maria Island, the Island described as "how Florida used to be, just Palm Trees, Pelicans and Beaches". Our family run resort offers 4, 2 bedroomed apartments and 2 &1bedroomed cottages, all fully equipped and with heated pool. We are situated across the road from the beautiful unspoilt beach and the clear warm water of the Gulf of Mexico. Stretching across 7.5 miles of pristine sugar white sandy beaches of the Gulf of Mexico, Anna Maria Island is a perfect retreat for those that truly want to get away from it all and discover the charm of old Florida.

Geography/location

Anna Maria Island is located on Florida's Southwest Coast, and is just south of Tampa Bay, Florida's Gulf Islands of Anna Maria and Longboat Key and the Greater Bradenton Area. You can easily access the area by automobile as well as two major international airports. There are also shuttle services from the airports to Anna Maria Island. While on the Island you can get around by foot quite easily, or rent a bike or rollerblades and you can also take advantage of the free trolley service.

Weather

Year-round sunshine, a warm tropical climate and water temperatures averaging in the 80's, so don’t forget to pack your sunscreen!

Things to Do and See

There is an abundance of outdoor things to do here on Anna Maria Island. We have amazing beaches, great golf courses, eco tours, and fishing. This is a perfect place for boat lovers as you have the option of pontoons, powerboats and charters to name a few. Anna Maria Island has options for all ages and families to enjoy. Kayak tours, Sarasota Jungle Gardens, and the Circus Sarasota are a few places you can enjoy with a group of people. If shopping is your thing you can spend time wandering the islands great shops, with local arts and crafts to fun beach wear, or treat yourself to some elegant evening wear to get you ready to enjoy the nightlife here. The evenings are great time to take in the sunset and the world-class seafood restaurants, and mingle in some of the pubs and lounges Anna Maria Island has to offer.

It is also worth while to take time out while you are here to visit the Anna Maria Historical Society, to learn about this modern paradise’s history. Taking in the stories and culture of the islands past, and present will only make you fall in love with it even more and keep you wanting to come back!
